May Landscape & Garden Tips

May Landscape & Garden TipsWhether we want to admit it or not, summer is coming. That’s the bad news. The good news is that because summer has yet to arrive, we still have a couple more weeks left in this great planting season. Plus, it gives us time to prepare our landscape for the summer. Our nursery pros have compiled a few tips and tasks for your landscape this month.

Watering: With the temperature starting to warm up, it’s time to to keep a close eye on the watering schedule for our yards. It is always important to look at temperatures. You always want to water slowly and deeply.

Fertilize: Right now is a great time to start fertilizing your lawn! Our winter lawns will begin to slowly die out as the temperature increases and the summer lawn will gradually begin to take over. You can give that summer lawn a boost by contact Goodfellas Enterprises LLC in Bellevue, Nebraska. In most cases, you will see results in just four days, and it gets stronger as it goes to work greening up your lawn.

Protection: Trees, just like us, can also get sunburn. However, the bottle of sunscreen isn’t going to be enough. Young trees need protection from the sun when temperatures increase. You can protect the trunk of a new tree from sunburn with Protective Tree Wrap. To further protect your tree, young or old, you can stake them. This provides stability when high winds come in.

Weeds: Stick to your weeding plan. Continue to do it often. And if you don’t have one, then give us a call and let us give you a FREE Estimate.

Mulch: With temperatures increasing , mulching is going to be extremely important for the next few months. Mulch any area where the sun is shining directly on the dirt. The mulch allows the roots to keep cool and moist.
